The London Skyline rescore of the 2020 short film SHIFT directed by Chen Sing Yap came in at a respectable 31st place out of 175 submissions at the Summer 2024 edition of the Indie Film Music Contest. According to the jury (comprised of several film music and licencing professionals), “(the) score effectively conveyed the sense of anxiety associated with the pandemic” and that the material “effectively (conveyed) a sense of unease, which worked well overall. (The) approach to creating tension was successful, and you did a commendable job with that aspect.”
With this said, the themes evoked in the score will return as part of an EP that expands them. This is by no means an official film music EP but rather a collection of songs inpired by the film and the rescore’s motives.
The EP will be titled Shift Variations and will be released this fall.
